Global Literacy

Course Number: 

A humanities course for the 21st century; this class ?goes global? in unprecedented ways. Team taught by expert instructors representing ten different linguistic and cultural traditions (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Ancient Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Ancient Roman, Russian), it trains students in the analysis of a wide range of media (literary text, folk text, still image, film, etc.) that challenge cultural identities and cross national boundaries. Meets requirements for UK Core Inquiry in the Humanities. Prereq: Students with a major or minor in MCLLC, SPA, FLIE, IS, or ENG; others with specific interest in the study of languages may enroll with permission of instructor only.
