Raised in Western Massachsetts, Jessamyn Rising graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a B.A. in history and a minor in Spanish. Following college, she worked for four years as a historic sites interpreter at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation before returning to school for a post baccalaureate certificate in Classics at the College of William and Mary. For the last three years, she has taught high school Latin in Eastern Virginia before entering the MCLLC program at UKY. She is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, the Eta Sigma Phi honor society in Classical studies, and the Alpha Delta Gamma honor society for the study of Medieval and Renaissance studies.  In her spare time, she enjoys lindy hop, contra dancing, folk music, and riding her unicycle.
