About the Program

University of Kentucky's Arabic Project GO Summer Immersion Program offers full scholarships to ROTC cadets from across the nation to study Arabic in Amman, Jordan. The program includes 8 weeks of academic study, including Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) taught by a Unviersity of Kentucky professor and Jordanian dialect taught by prominent Arabic institute, Qasid Arabic Institute, in Amman, Jordan. Receiving 160+ hours over the 8-week period, cadets will be immersedinto Arab culture and language to reach ILR 1 proficiency level.

Program Dates: June 13 - August 19, 2022 (includes travel dates)

Program Highlights:

  • Lodging: Students will have shared-room housing that is organized by Qasid Institute
  • Weekend excursions to Ajloun, the Dead Sea and Madaba, Jerash, Wadi Rum, and Petra
  • Cultural experiences including Jordanian cooking & Arabic calligraphy lessons
  • Jordanian speaking partners

Project GO provides funding for:

  • Tuition/fees
  • Room and Board
  • Travel to/from study location
  • Insurance
  • Visa

Project GO does NOT provide funding for:

  • Personal spending money
  • Personal travel
  • Costs for obtaining a passport
  • Medications
  • Expenses for dependents

Accomodations: 

During the duration of the program, students will reside in shared apartments managed by the Qasid Arabic Institute. While housing and included amenities may vary somewhat depending on students' preferences and on-site availability, standard housing will include: wireless internet access and maintenance support services. All apartments have a shared kitchen and common area, and students may anticipate sharing a bedroom/bathroom with another program participant.

Student apartments are usually within a 15 minute walk to/from the Qasid Arabic Institute and there are several markets, grocery stores, restaurants, and gyms in close proximity. To learn more about housing at the Qasid Arabic Institute, click here

How do I apply?

  1. Click the 'Apply Now' button below to apply to University of Kentucky's Project Go Arabic Language Summer Program in Jordan through the Project Go central application system.
  2. Submit a separate application for the University of Kentucky's Education Abroad. Students should not complete the UK application until they have been accepted into Project GO.
