Giving to MCLLC

We cordially invite you to consider becoming involved in the future of MCLLC by making a charitable contribution to the department.

Your tax-deductible gift will enable us to:

  • Provide students with the opportunity to study abroad;
  • Train teachers of languages and cultures for elementary, middle, and high schools in Kentucky;
  • Support existing scholarship funds, including the Swift-Longacre Graduate Fellowship in Classics; the Max Kade Fellowship in German; the Russian Studies Study Abroad Scholarship as well as to provide scholarships for students of other languages (the complete list is below);
  • Support cultural activities and programs, such as German Octoberfest, Chinese New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival, Russian Carnival Festival, and Muslim Eid-al-Fitr.

Classics Development Fund: Supports students to honor academic excellence in undergraduate Greek and Latin and campus events dedicated to the Classical world.

Classics Study Abroad Scholarship: Supports awards to assist Classics Undergraduate Major/Minor or Graduate Students to pursue opportunities for study abroad programs.

Donna and Gabriel Treesh Foreign Studies: Supports scholarships for FLIE/Japanese majors to recognize excellence and provide funds for travel and study abroad.

Dr. Alpharetta B. Archer Foreign Study Scholarship: Supports scholarships for MCL/French & Francophone Studies majors to recognize student excellence and provide funds to travel abroad.

Foreign Language and International Economics/German Study Abroad Fund: Supports awards for Awards for FLIE/German majors to study abroad.

French & Francophone Studies Development Fund: Supports awards to honor outstanding MA graduate students and undergraduate students and campus events dedicated to the Francophone world.

Garland & Karen Dever Endowed Fellowship: Supports fellowships for students and support for visiting faculty, lecturers and other scholars from North Africa who are teaching or conducting research at UK and to support students or faculty from UK to teach and conduct research at universities located in North Africa.

German Studies Development Fund: Supports awards for undergraduate and graduate students for academic excellence in German courses and campus events dedicated to the German-speaking countries.

Modern & Classical Languages, Literatures & Cultures Development Fund: Supports awards to recognize exceptional academic achievements for MCL majors in Arabic and Islamic Studies, Chinese Studies, Classics (Greek and Latin), Foreign Language and International Economics, French and Francophone Studies, German Studies, Japan Studies, Russian Studies, and minors in Italian, Jewish Studies and Folklore and Mythology.

Modern and Classical Languages, Literatures and Cultures Study and Research Abroad Fund: Supports scholarships to study and conduct research abroad for undergraduate and graduate students in MCLLC, including Arabic and Islamic Studies, Chinese Studies, Classics (Greek and Latin), Foreign Language and International Economics, French and Francophone Studies, German Studies,  Japan Studies, Russian Studies, and Teacher Education as well as minors in Italian Studies, Folkore and Mythology, and Jewish Studies (Hebrew).

Ryland-Mackinnon-Mynear Award: Supports a scholarship to recognize student excellence and provide funds for travel and study abroad to undergraduate students of MCL/French & Francophone Studies.

Russian and Eastern Studies Development Fund: Supports study abroad scholarships to provide funds for travel abroad to Russian-speaking countries.

Swift/Longacre/Scaife Fellowship in Classics: Supports the Swift/Longacre/Scaife Fellowship for a graduate student working toward a Classics degree (Swift) or to a graduate student working toward teacher certification in Latin (Longacre) alternately.

Villa Mae Shearer Squifflet Scholarship: Supports awards for excellence for undergraduate students in MCL/French & Francophone Studies.

Zembrod Scholarship: Supports awards to honor MCL/French & Francophone Studies majors and FLIE/French majors for outstanding performance.
