The Chinese minor at the University of Kentucky is designed for those students who wish to supplement degrees in other fields with a strong foundation in Chinese language and culture. The total credits required for the minor in Chinese is 18.

A. Core Requirement. In addition to University of Kentucky UK Core, other UK graduation requirements, and requirements for the student's major course of study, all students must complete a minimum 6 credits from among the following courses in the Chinese minor core:

CHI 301: Advanced Intermediate Chinese (3) 
CHI 302: Advanced Intermediate Chinese (3) 
CHI 330: Intro to Chinese culture to 1840 (3) 
CHI 331: Intro to Chinese culture since 1840 (3) 

B. Elective Requirement. In addition, students must take at least 12 additional credits of the following toward a total of 18 credits. (Please note that courses on the core course list above NOT used to satisfy the Core Requirement may be used to satisfy the Elective Requirement.)
