Wednesday, May 3 at 4:00pm in the W. T. Young Library Auditorium 2nd annual Hajja Razia Sharif Sheikh Islamic Studies Lecture. Speaker Amina Wadud, Professor and International Consultant on Islam, Gender and Justice and visiting scholar at the Starr King School for the Ministry, Berkeley, CA. Amina Wadud is one of the most internationally recognized Islamic Feminists in the past few decades. Her lecture, “Women Shall Lead Them: Islamic Reform 21st Century,” will trace the Muslim Women's Movement from an inside personal-spiritual course to its global conditions and challenges and on toward a new paradigm changing the future. Her lecture covers the rise of Islamic feminism and its direct relationship with both secular Muslim feminism and Political Islam.
