Coser y Cantar - KFLC

The Kentucky Foreign Languages Conference hosted a special presentation of “Coser y Cantar” in Honor of Brian Dendle. On Friday April 11, 2014 at the Center Theater of University of Kentucky, “Coser y Cantar” (Sewing and Singing) – a one-act play by Cuban-American playwright Dolores Prida -- were performed by Hannah Whitt and María Guarina. Organized by Dolores Flores-Silva. This play presents at first glance a dialogue between two women, She and Ella (or she in Spanish). It quickly becomes apparent that the two Shes are indeed the same woman who are engaged in an "emotional game of ping pong" to cite the words of the author. The divided self of She/Ella that they confront here is not a case of multiple personalities, but is an internal division caused by the competing demands of culture.
