Max Kade House

The Max Kade German House and Cultural Center at 212 East Maxwell Street is a living and learning community that supports academic and outreach programs related to German Studies at the University of Kentucky. It is affiliated with the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, Literatures and Cultures and supported by a generous grant from the Max Kade Foundation in New York. The Kade House opened its doors at UK in 2000 thanks to the vision and hard work of Professor Emeritus Ted Fiedler.

There are eight private student rooms in the Kade House, which house a mix of American and international students from German-speaking countries. The official language for the residents of the house is German. The house also hosts numerous academic and extra-curricular events from Oktoberfest and German Club meetings to guest lectures by visiting scholars and readings by German-language authors.

For further information, including information on living in one of the student rooms, contact Prof. Nels Jeff Rogers, nelsjrogers@uky.edu, Director of the Max Kade German House.
