To apply for admission to the graduate program in German, candidates need to complete the online application to the University of Kentucky Graduate School. You will find the requirements and links here.
Please note that the MA in German Studies requires a statement of purpose (in English), a writing sample in German, TOEFL or IELTS for international students, and three academic letters of recommendation.
For details on the program and requirements, please consult the UK Graduate School Bulletin.
Application Deadline: February 1. Applications that arrive after this date will be considered, but funding opportunities such as teaching assistantships may no longer be available. An early application is always advisable.
An undergraduate major in German is desirable, but not mandatory. Students lacking sufficient preparation in German language and literature may be admitted with the understanding that their study program must include some advanced undergraduate work in addition to those courses normally required for the M.A.
Applicants who are not US citizens or permanent residents must meet the financial requirement (this may be in the form of tuition remissions and teaching assistantships, see Graduate Student Support). For up-to-date information regarding this requirement, please consult the UK Graduate School Bulletin or the Graduate School Web Page.
