The Program in Social Theory offers innovative opportunities for (re)conceptualizing across disciplinary and theoretical divides some of society’s most significant and pressing issues. Through team-taught seminars, distinguished visiting scholars and public lectures, a graduate-student edited journal (disClosure), faculty working papers and many occasions for informal social interaction, the Committee strives to encourage and help form new collaborative projects dedicated to understanding society within interdisciplinary historical and contemporary contexts. A graduate certificate in Social Theory can be earned with 10 hours of requisite work (ST 500, ST600, ST690).

Since 1989, the Committee on Social Theory at UK has grown to include participation from over a dozen departments and five schools and continues to provide one of the most engaging teaching, research and learning experiences at UK.
