Our sixth Language Talk: KWLA podcast, Student Growth Goal Rubric, features host Laura Roché Youngworth discussing with Jillian Lykens, Ben McMaine, and Alicia Vinson the structure and application of the Fayette County World Language Student Growth Goal Rubrics. As they discuss what influenced and guided the rubrics, they paint a picture of how the SGG rubrics differ than rubrics traditionally used for formative and summative assessments.

Four Japan Studies students earn honors during speech contest

They participated in the annual Kentucky Japanese speech contest that took place in Norsworthy Auditorium, located next to the Fayette County board of education building, on Saturday, April 18, 2015.

Brittany Shaver Named 2015 Future K-12 German Teacher Award Recipient

Not only an award-winning student, but Shaver is also working on two master's degrees currently: a Master’s in the Teaching of World Languages, focusing on German – and the other in Teaching English as a Second Language.

French Studies Forum on the Paris Attacks

The University of Kentucky recently hosted a French Studies Forum on the Paris Attacks, organized by French and Francophone Studies within the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Cultures.

The participants in the forum address the cultural and political context of, as well as the emerging and continuing fallout surrounding, the recent deadly attacks on the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and a Paris kosher market (January 7-9, 2015).
