As a scholar of Italian literature and culture, I specialize in Dante and Boccaccio as well as women writers, feminist thought, history of philosophy, and manuscript culture. I am currently completing a book manuscript, Feminism Before Feminism: Boccaccio After Beauvoir, which places feminist thinkers in conversation with Boccaccio, showing how the pre-modern world produced theories of gender that can shed light on the central questions that concern feminists still today. Challenging traditional temporal and linguistic bounds, my research sparks new conversations between the medieval and modern worlds.
At UK, I teach Italian language and Italian literature in translation. I love welcoming students of all backgrounds to the study of Italy, its language, culture, and literature.
