Our fourth Language Talk: KWLA podcast, National Updates, features co-hosts Laura Roché Youngworth and Jeanmarie Rouhier-Willoughby discussing with Jacque VanHouten, 2015 President of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, national issues and initiatives relevant to world language educators. Topics include current policy such as bi-lingual certification, curricular and instructional shifts, and advocacy opportunities for educators of languages. May Day Reflections on Aluminum Workers in Indiana

 

Drawing on fieldwork that begun in the US heartland in the world-changing year of 1989, when the fall of the Berlin Wall dramatically ended the long epoch of the Cold War, this paper attempts to demonstrate a long historical view of labor struggles within this ethnographic context.

A&S Dean's List Recipients Praised

On April 3, the University of Kentucky College of Arts and Sciences recognized about 1,400 current students who earned a place on the Dean’s List for their academic achievements.

The 2015-2016 Outstanding Teaching Award Recipients Announced

There will be an Awards Ceremony to honor the recipients of these and other College awards on Wednesday, April 22 at 4 pm in the WT Young Auditorium. A reception will follow the ceremony.

Bardo Receives SEC Faculty Achievement Award

Each award winner will become his or her university’s nominee for the 2015 SEC Professor of the Year Award and will receive a $5,000 honorarium from the SEC. The SEC Professor of the Year, to be named later this month, receives an additional $15,000 honorarium and will be recognized at the SEC Awards Dinner in May and the SEC Symposium in September.

Education Abroad Grant Supports UK Faculty-directed Programs

Education Abroad at the University of Kentucky awarded Program Development Grants to four UK faculty members to support their international travels for the purpose of establishing faculty-directed education abroad programs.
