Our second Language Talk: KWLA podcast features host Laura Roché Youngworth discussing the Kentucky World Language Program Review with Jacque Van Houten, Jefferson County Public Schools World Language Consultant, and Alfonso de Torres Nunez, World Language Consultant for the KY Department of Education. They talk about the overall premise of the Program Review including its history, models of implementation, embedded concepts of global competency and 21st century skills, and the concept of Program Review as a tool for building capacity. Office Hours With Brenna Byrd And Anastasia Curwood

Our latest episode of Office Hours is here! In this session, Professors Brenna Byrd and Anastasia Curwood join us to discuss their teaching, research, and interests. Professor Byrd leads off with a discussion of German culture and Turkish-German hip-hop while Professor Curwood explores her recent research regarding Shirley Chisholm. The two professors discover their common interests -- forms of social resistance, feminism, language, and identity and discuss them from two very different perspectives.

Frights from Coast to Coast with Jeff Rogers

Jeff Rogers is the Director of Undergraduate Studies for Modern and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. He also teaches a class called Global Horror, which examines the course of the horror genre of film from its origins in Weimar, Germany to the modern day. The class emphasizes an application of both film and literature to best cover how the genre has changed and evolved over a century.

In this podcast, Rogers joins us to discuss Global Horror, the real-world applications of film study, and gives us a primer on horror's history.
